Protecting

The Capacity Collaborative works with small, rural and vulnerable communities to help them protect their environment. For over ten years, the Collaborative has worked with small water systems in 40 states to improve their capacity to protect their watersheds and provide clean and safe drinking water to their communities. In Puerto Rico and on Vieques, the Collaborative has supported small, non-PRASA drinking water systems (and communities with no water access at all) with their efforts to build a cooperative that can help sustain these impoverished and deeply rural systems.

The Collaborative is also working hard to help rural southern communities understand their climate vulnerabilities. Working with three communities, Fort Valley GA, Tuskegee AL, and Monticello FL, the Collaborative provided community workshops to capture local climate knowledge and help identify actions they can take to become more resilient.
